We are partnering with a small church in rural Cambodia to build a community kitchen. This will allow them to combine resources and prepare food on a more economical scale, work together to help those who don't have enough to eat, and give them a chance to grow community relationships while they do so.
Chhnour Cambodia, a rural community, struggles under the weight of poverty. They spend about 70% of everything they can earn just to buy food. Even then they are malnourished, and their children are stunted for life. This sets them up for lifelong illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease and leaves them more susceptible to other diseases. But there is an answer, you can give them hope for a better tomorrow.
By building a community kitchen you will change their lives in several ways. They will work together to become a closer community, offering each other support through the tough times of illness, injury, or job shortage. You give them the opportunity to use an economy of scale to stretch their resources. You will provide for them to receive teaching on how to make egg roll shells and rice noodles from scratch, staple Cambodian items that they currently can't afford. And you will give them the opportunity to use the facility and their new knowledge to start a business that will significantly increase their income and lift them out of poverty.
Because you care, an entire village will have a brighter future for generations to come.
